A reversible process is an idealized, infinitely slow (quasi-static) process that can be exactly retraced; an irreversible process is a real, natural process that cannot be exactly undone.

Reversible process: A process that proceeds through a continuous succession of equilibrium states, infinitesimally slowly (quasi-statically), with no dissipative effects (like friction or viscosity). It can be reversed at any point by an infinitesimal change in conditions, and when reversed, both the system and its surroundings are restored exactly to their initial states with no net change anywhere. Reversible processes are idealizations — no real process is perfectly reversible.
