A sectional labelled diagram of the human female reproductive system shows a pair of ovaries, oviducts (with fimbriae, infundibulum, ampulla, isthmus), the uterus (fundus, body, cervix with its three-layered wall), the vagina and external genitalia.

Parts to sketch and label (sectional view):

  1. Ovaries – a pair of almond-shaped primary sex organs located in the lower abdomen, one on each side. They produce ova and the hormones oestrogen and progesterone. Each ovary is attached to the pelvic wall and uterus by ligaments.

    • Fimbriae – finger-like projections near the ovary that collect the released ovum.
    • Infundibulum – the funnel-shaped part bearing the fimbriae.
    • Ampulla – the wider, longer middle part where fertilisation usually occurs.
    • Isthmus – the narrow part that joins the uterus.
  3. Uterus (womb) – a single, inverted pear-shaped structure that supports the developing embryo. Its parts are the fundus (dome-shaped top), the body (main part), and the narrow cervix which opens into the vagina. The uterine wall has three layers: outer perimetrium, middle thick muscular myometrium, and inner glandular endometrium (which undergoes cyclic changes). …
