At infinite dilution, each ion contributes independently, so Λm∘=u+λ+∘+u−λ−∘\Lambda_m^\circ = u_+\lambda_+^\circ + u_-\lambda_-^\circ.

Concept. At infinite dilution the ions of an electrolyte are completely dissociated and move independently of one another. Kohlrausch's law states that the limiting molar conductivity of an electrolyte equals the sum of the limiting molar conductivities of its constituent ions:

Λm∘=u+λ+∘+u−λ−∘\Lambda_m^\circ = u_+\lambda_+^\circ + u_-\lambda_-^\circ

where u+ u_+ and u− u_- are the numbers of cations and anions per formula unit, and λ+∘\lambda_+^\circ, λ−∘\lambda_-^\circ are their limiting molar conductivities.
