The sixth principle, Co-operation among Co-operatives, states that co-operatives serve their members most effectively and strengthen the whole movement by working together through local, regional, national and international structures. In effect, the principle of co-operation is applied to co-operatives themselves — societies co-operate with each other.

Meaning. Individual co-operatives should not act in isolation or compete wastefully among themselves. By collaborating, small societies can pool their strength, share resources and expertise, obtain finance and services on better terms, and stand together against difficulties.
