Q.State Law of Mass action.
Step 1. The law of mass action states how the rate of a chemical reaction depends on the concentrations of the reactants at any given instant.
Step 2. It states that the rate is directly proportional to the product of the molar concentrations of all the reactants, each concentration term raised to a power equal to the number of molecules of that reactant appearing in the balanced chemical equation.
Step 3. For a general reaction A + B → C, this gives Rate , which becomes Rate once a proportionality constant (the rate constant) is introduced.
Step 4. If a reactant's coefficient is greater than 1, its concentration is raised to that power, e.g. for , Rate .
The Law of Mass Action states that the rate of a chemical reaction at each instant is proportional to the product of the concentration terms of all the reactants, each raised to a power equal to its stoichiometric coefficient in the balanced equation.
