At the national level, co-operative training is organised through the National Council for Co-operative Training (NCCT), which functions under the National Co-operative Union of India. The NCCT runs a chain of training institutions across the country, at the apex of which stands VAMNICOM, Pune.

Vaikunth Mehta National Institute of Co-operative Management (VAMNICOM), Pune is the premier national institute for co-operative management education and training in India. It is named after Shri Vaikunth Mehta, a distinguished pioneer of the co-operative movement. VAMNICOM was established in 1967 and is located in Pune, Maharashtra.

Role and functions of VAMNICOM:

• Higher management training — it provides advanced, professional-level training in co-operative management to senior personnel of co-operative institutions, officers of the co-operative departments, and executives of co-operative banks and federations.
