A's Capital Account, credited with opening capital, 2 months' interest on capital, 2 months' salary and 2 months' share of previous year's profit, and debited with drawings and interest thereon, closes with Rs. 1,38,800 due to his Executors.

Period from last Balance Sheet date (1-4-2024) to date of death (31-5-2024) = 2 months.

Step 1 — Interest on Capital @ 12% p.a. for 2 months:

= 1,60,000 × 12% × 2/12 = Rs. 3,200

Step 2 — Salary @ Rs. 24,000 p.a. for 2 months:

= 24,000 × 2/12 = Rs. 4,000

Step 3 — Share of Profit up to date of death, on the basis of the previous year's profit (Rs. 60,000), A's share being 2/5 (profit ratio 2:2:1):

Previous year's profit share (full year) = 60,000 × 2/5 = 24,000

Proportionate for 2 months = 24,000 × 2/12 = Rs. 4,000

Step 4 — Interest on Drawings (already given) = Rs. 2,400 (debit)
