Figure — Labelled vertical/sagittal (longitudinal) section of the human eye drawn as a roughly spherical eyeb

The human eye is a near-spherical structure made of three layers (sclera/cornea, choroid/iris/ciliary body, and retina) enclosing the lens and two fluid-filled chambers; light is focused onto the retina and transmitted via the optic nerve.

Since a drawing cannot be rendered here, label the following parts clearly on your diagram of a sagittal section of the human eye:

  • Sclera — tough outer white coat, protective; continuous anteriorly with the transparent cornea, through which light enters.
  • Choroid — the pigmented, vascular middle layer; in front it forms the iris (coloured part, controls the size of the pupil, the opening through which light passes) and the ciliary body (holds the lens via suspensory ligaments and controls its shape/focal length).
  • Lens — a transparent, biconvex structure behind the pupil, held by ciliary/suspensory ligaments, which fine-focuses light onto the retina. …
