Step 2. At the very tip, draw and label the Root cap - a dome-shaped covering of parenchymatous cells that protects the delicate meristematic cells inside the apex.
Step 3. Just above the root cap, mark the Meristematic zone (region of cell division) - here cells are small, thin-walled and actively, continuously dividing; this is the main growing point of the root.
Step 4. Above the meristematic zone, mark the Zone of elongation - the newly formed cells here elongate and increase in length, which is what pushes the root deeper into the soil. …
