Q.Who can file a complaint before a consumer redressal body? (mention any four)
The law does not restrict the right to file a consumer complaint to the affected consumer alone. Four categories of persons/bodies who can file are: first, the consumer who personally bought the goods or hired the service for personal use; second, any recognised or registered consumer association, which may complain on behalf of one or more consumers even if they are not its members; third, the Central Government or a State Government, acting on its own behalf or on behalf of consumers in general, especially in matters of wide public interest; and fourth, the legal heir or representative of a consumer who has since died, so that the right to seek redress survives the consumer's death. In addition, one or more consumers with the same interest may also complain jointly on behalf of a larger group, with the permission of the redressal body, though this is beyond the four asked for here.
Any four of: the consumer personally, a registered consumer association, the Central/State Government, a group of consumers with the same interest, or the legal heir of a deceased consumer.
