Benzenediazonium chloride is a colourless, crystalline solid. It is readily soluble in water and stable in COLD water, but reacts with WARM water (hydrolysing to phenol, as covered under its replacement reactions). Its aqueous solution is neutral to litmus and conducts electricity, since it is fully ionic in solution.
