Closing capital = Assets ₹8,50,000 − Liabilities ₹4,00,000 = ₹4,50,000. Profit = ₹4,50,000 + Drawings ₹48,000 − Additional capital ₹75,000 − Opening capital ₹4,00,000 = ₹23,000.

The firm started on 1st October 2016, so the accounting period runs only six months to 31st March 2017. Drawings are therefore ₹8,000 × 6 = ₹48,000. The friends' loan of ₹1,00,000 is a year-end liability, and its interest at 10% per annum for six months (₹5,000) has already been paid as a business expense, so it is already reflected in the closing position and needs no separate adjustment.
