Turner's syndrome is a chromosomal (numerical) disorder in females caused by monosomy of the X chromosome (45, XO), producing a characteristic set of physical and reproductive symptoms.

Turner's syndrome arises due to the absence of one of the X chromosomes, i.e., the affected individual has only 45 chromosomes with a single X (45, XO) instead of the normal 46 (44+XX). It results from non-disjunction of the X chromosome during gamete formation.
