The ovule (megasporangium) of a flowering plant has the following parts:
- Funicle — the stalk that attaches the ovule to the placenta.
- Hilum — the point where the funicle meets the ovule body (junction between funicle and ovule).
- Integument(s) — one or two protective layers enveloping the nucellus, except at the tip where they leave a small opening.
