Test → Measurement → Evaluation → decision → (re-)test: each stage feeds the next, forming a continuous assessment cycle.

The three processes are not separate events but consecutive stages of one loop:

  1. Test. A suitable tool or task is administered to collect information on a trait (e.g. a standing broad jump for leg power).
  2. Measurement. The result is quantified into a number (e.g. 1.90 m). Without the test there is nothing to measure.
  3. Evaluation. The number is interpreted against a norm, criterion or previous score to judge worth and make a decision (e.g. 'above average — advance the training load'). Without measurement there is nothing to evaluate.
