Indian consumers are protected by several laws, chief among them the Consumer Protection Act, along with the Sale of Goods Act and food-safety and weights-and-measures laws.

Consumerism is a movement to protect the rights and interests of consumers. To support it, India has enacted many laws. The important ones include:
