Strategies to deal with Global Warming
Because global warming is driven by a build-up of specific gases from specific activities, the mitigation strategies target those same points. Expanding vegetation cover and planting more trees increases the planet's natural carbon-absorbing capacity, directly offsetting emissions. Cutting fossil-fuel combustion and other greenhouse-gas-releasing activity reduces new emissions at the source, while developing renewable, non-fossil energy sources (solar, wind and similar) reduces the need for fossil fuels in the first place. On the agricultural side, minimising the use of nitrogenous fertilisers curbs N2O release, and reducing aerosol use curbs both CFC-type emissions and particulate loading.
