An entrepreneur is one who starts and runs an enterprise, combining the factors of production and bearing its risk for profit. Successful entrepreneurs typically show innovativeness, calculated risk-taking, a high need for achievement, self-confidence, leadership, hard work, foresight and good organising ability.

Entrepreneurship is a core part of the TS Intermediate 2nd-year Commerce course, and this portion aligns closely with the NCERT/CBSE commerce curriculum on entrepreneurship development.

Characteristics of Entrepreneurs

  1. Innovation and creativity. An entrepreneur introduces new products, methods, markets or ways of organising, converting ideas into opportunities.

  3. Need for achievement. A strong inner urge to achieve and to excel drives him to set and reach challenging goals.
  4. Self-confidence and optimism. He believes in his own ability and stays positive even when facing difficulties.
  5. Leadership and decision-making. He leads and motivates his team and takes prompt, firm decisions.
  6. Hard work and perseverance. He works long and hard and does not give up easily when problems arise.
