Higher temperature raises the rate (more molecules exceed the activation energy); higher pressure raises the rate of gaseous reactions by increasing reactant concentration.

Effect of temperature:

Raising the temperature increases the average kinetic energy of the molecules, so a larger fraction of molecules possess energy equal to or greater than the activation energy (Ea). As a rough rule, the rate of a reaction nearly doubles for every 10 degree Celsius rise in temperature. This is explained by the Arrhenius equation k = A e^(-Ea/RT): as T increases, the exponential term increases and so does the rate constant k.
