Marketing mix is the blend of the "4 Ps" — Product, Price, Place and Promotion — the controllable tools a firm combines to satisfy its target market profitably.

Marketing mix refers to the set of marketing tools/variables that a firm combines to produce the desired response from its target market, in pursuit of its marketing objectives. It is usually described through the "4 Ps":

  1. Product: Decisions regarding what goods/services to offer — covering product design, quality, features, variety, branding, packaging and labelling, and after-sale services. The product must be shaped around what customers actually need.

  2. Price: Decisions about how much to charge for the product — including the base price, discounts, allowances, payment period and credit terms. Price must be set to balance customer value perception, competitors' prices, and the firm's cost and profit objectives.

  3. Place (distribution): Decisions on how the product will physically move from the producer to the final customer — the channels of distribution chosen (direct or through intermediaries), warehousing, inventory and transportation arrangements, to ensure the product is available where and when customers want it.
