Coherent = same frequency & constant phase difference; β=λDd=1.2\beta=\dfrac{\lambda D}{d}=1.2 mm.

Coherent sources. Two sources are said to be coherent if they emit light waves of the same frequency (and wavelength) having a constant (time-independent) phase difference. Only coherent sources give a steady, observable interference pattern; in practice they are derived from a single source (e.g. two slits).

Fringe width. In Young's double-slit experiment the width of each bright/dark fringe is

β=λDd\beta = \frac{\lambda D}{d}

Given. λ=6000 A˚=6×10−7 m\lambda = 6000\,\text{Å} = 6\times10^{-7}\,\text{m}; d=0.05 cm=5×10−4 md = 0.05\,\text{cm} = 5\times10^{-4}\,\text{m}; D=1 mD = 1\,\text{m}.
