Three differences between anemophilous and entomophilous flowers:
- Flower size/colour — anemophilous flowers are small and dull-coloured; entomophilous flowers are large and brightly coloured.
- Nectar/fragrance — absent in anemophilous flowers; present in entomophilous flowers to attract insects.
- Pollen — anemophilous pollen is light, dry, non-sticky, and produced in enormous quantity (much is wasted in air); entomophilous pollen is sticky/spiny and produced in comparatively smaller quantity.
(Example: grasses and maize show anemophily; rose and sunflower show entomophily.)
