India hosts government data centres (NIC's National Data Centres running MeghRaj/e-governance) and large private ones — CtrlS, Yotta, Sify, STT GDC (colocation/managed hosting) plus the Indian cloud regions of AWS, Azure and Google Cloud (public cloud services).

The idea. A data centre is a facility housing thousands of servers with redundant power, cooling, network and security, from which storage and computing services are delivered. India's data-centre market spans three kinds of operators — government, Indian private colocation companies, and global cloud providers' Indian regions. This is an explore-yourself activity, so the list below is a model sample, not exhaustive.

Government

  • NIC National Data Centres — New Delhi, Hyderabad, Pune and Bhubaneswar. Services: hosting for central/state e-governance applications (portals, DigiLocker-class services), and the National Cloud under MeghRaj offering IaaS/PaaS to government departments.

Major Indian private operators

  • CtrlS Datacenters (Mumbai, Hyderabad, Noida, Bengaluru, Chennai) — among Asia's largest Tier-4 (highest availability) facilities. Services: colocation (renting rack space for your servers), managed hosting, private/hybrid cloud, disaster-recovery services.
  • Yotta Infrastructure (Navi Mumbai's hyperscale park, Greater Noida) — hyperscale colocation, cloud and managed services.
  • Sify Technologies (Chennai, Mumbai, Noida and more) — data-centre hosting, cloud and interconnect/network services for enterprises.
  • STT GDC India (Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru and others) — carrier-neutral colocation serving enterprises and global cloud companies.
  • Reliance Jio data centres — power Jio's telecom network and consumer digital/cloud services.

Global cloud providers' Indian regions

  • AWS Asia-Pacific (Mumbai) and (Hyderabad) regions — full public-cloud stack: EC2 compute, S3 storage, databases, AI/ML services. …
