Multiply the fraction repeatedly by 16 and collect integer parts (10 -> A, 12 -> C) top-down — 0.675 gives A and then C repeating forever.

Why this works. Multiplying by 16 shifts the hexadecimal point one place right; the integer part that emerges is the next hex digit. Integer parts of 10-15 are written as A-F.

Working for (0.675)10:

StepMultiplicationInteger part (digit)Fractional part carried on
10.675 x 16 = 10.810 -> A0.8
20.8 x 16 = 12.812 -> C0.8
30.8 x 16 = 12.812 -> C0.8

From step 2 onward the carried fraction is always 0.8, so the digit C recurs forever:

(0.675)10 = (0.A CCC ...)16  ~  (0.ACC)16

Verification of the 3-digit approximation:

10/16 + 12/256 + 12/4096 = 0.625 + 0.046875 + 0.0029297 = 0.6748...  ~ 0.675  ✓
