Genetic industries are a type of primary (extractive-related) industry concerned with breeding, reproducing and multiplying plants and animals for sale. They 'produce' living things rather than extract or manufacture goods.

Genetic Industries

  • Cattle-breeding and dairy farms.
  • Poultry farms (rearing hens for eggs and chicks).
  • Fish hatcheries and pisciculture.
  • Seed-growing and seed-multiplication farms.

Genetic industries thus form a part of the wider classification of industries (primary, secondary and tertiary) studied in Commerce.
