Difference between blood and lymph:
Blood
- Red in colour (due to haemoglobin in RBCs).
- Contains plasma, red blood cells (RBCs), white blood cells (WBCs) and platelets.
- Plasma is rich in proteins (albumin, globulin, fibrinogen), nutrients and oxygen.
- Flows within the blood vessels (arteries, veins, capillaries) and heart.
- Main function: transport of O2, CO2, nutrients, wastes and hormones.
Lymph
- Colourless fluid.
- Contains no RBCs and no platelets; only WBCs (mainly lymphocytes).
- Has less protein and less nutrients/oxygen but more CO2 and wastes than blood.
