Part (a): DF Ltd. - application, allotment (arrears Rs 24,000) and first-call (arrears Rs 30,000) entries are determinable; the forfeiture/reissue cannot be finalised because the printed arrears conflict with the stated 5,000-share default category (data inconsistency).

Part (b): EF Ltd. - pro-rata 5:4; Seema's allotment arrears Rs 40,000 later cleared; Sahaj's 2,000 shares forfeited (Rs 50,000) and reissued to Geeta at Rs 60 (Rs 50 paid up); Rs 50,000 to Capital Reserve.

Part (a)

DF Ltd. issued 50,000 shares of Rs 10 at a premium of Rs 2. Money per share: Application Rs 3 (capital 2 + premium 1), Allotment Rs 3 (capital 2 + premium 1), First call Rs 3, Second & Final call Rs 3 (not made).

Category / pro-rata working

  • 70,000 applications: 5,000 allotted in full; 50,000 allotted 90% (= 45,000); 15,000 rejected. Total allotted = 50,000.
  • Pro-rata excess on application = (50,000 - 45,000) x Rs 3 = Rs 15,000, adjusted against allotment.
  • Refund on rejected = 15,000 x Rs 3 = Rs 45,000.
  • Allotment due = 50,000 x Rs 3 = Rs 1,50,000; net receivable = 1,50,000 - 15,000 = Rs 1,35,000.
