Fertilization occurs in the fallopian tube (oviduct), specifically at its ampullary-isthmic junction.

In mammals, after ovulation the secondary oocyte released from the ovary is picked up by the finger-like fimbriae of the fallopian tube and moved into the tube. Sperms deposited in the vagina during copulation travel up through the cervix and uterus into the fallopian tube. Fertilization — the fusion of a sperm with the secondary oocyte to form a zygote — takes place in the ampullary-isthmic junction, the region where the wide ampulla of the oviduct meets the narrower isthmus. The resulting zygote then undergoes cleavage divisions as it travels down the oviduct towards the uterus for implantation.
