Given: price of X1 (P1) = Rs. 15, price of X2 (P2) = Rs. 25, consumer's income (M) = Rs. 300.
- Maximum X1 if all income spent on X1: X1 = M / P1 = 300 / 15 = 20 units.
- Maximum X2 if all income spent on X2: X2 = M / P2 = 300 / 25 = 12 units.
- Slope of the budget line: The budget line slopes downward (negatively sloped) from left to right, because buying more of one good means buying less of the other. Its slope in magnitude is P1/P2 = 15/25 = 0.6.
- Do bundles on the budget line equal the consumer's income? Yes. Every bundle lying on the budget line is one where the total expenditure (P1.X1 + P2.X2) exactly equals the consumer's income of Rs. 300; the whole income is spent. …
