Step 2. Temperature and pressure dependence. Adsorption is exothermic, so it is favoured by low temperature (Le Chatelier's principle) and its extent generally rises with increasing pressure of the gas, up to saturation of the surface.
Step 3. Surface-area dependence. Since it is a surface effect, adsorption increases as the adsorbent's available surface area increases -- finely divided or porous adsorbents adsorb more per unit mass.
