Manipur is endowed with several unique tourist attractions: Loktak Lake, the largest freshwater lake in Northeast India, famous for its floating islands (phumdis), and Keibul Lamjao National Park -- the world's only floating national park and the last natural habitat of the endangered Sangai (brow-antlered deer); scenic hill stations, valleys and waterfalls; historical and cultural sites associated with Manipur's kingdom and World War II history; and a vibrant cultural calendar of festivals (Sangai Festival, Lai Haraoba, Yaoshang) along with distinctive handloom and handicraft traditions.
