Filariasis is a mosquito-borne parasitic worm infection of the lymphatic system, best known for causing elephantiasis.

Filariasis (also called elephantiasis) is a slow, chronic disease caused by parasitic filarial worms - mainly Wuchereria bancrofti and Wuchereria malayi - which are slender, thread-like nematodes.
