Digital Society and Netizen
A digital society is one where daily life — communication, banking, shopping, education, travel, entertainment — is increasingly managed through online transactions and digital technologies. As more people rely on these tools, the way we interact, work, and relate to one another shifts into the digital space.
But being online is not just about convenience. It also demands awareness of how to conduct ourselves, how to treat others, and what values to uphold. Anyone who uses digital technology along with the Internet is called a digital citizen or a netizen.
A netizen is any person who uses digital technology and the Internet. Being a good netizen means practicing safe, ethical, and legal use of digital technology.
A responsible netizen must follow three kinds of etiquettes:
- Net etiquettes — general rules of polite and respectful behaviour online.
- Communication etiquettes — proper conduct while exchanging messages, emails, or calls. …
