All three terms in v = u + at have the dimension [LT^-1] (velocity), so the equation passes the dimensional-consistency check (the principle of homogeneity of dimensions).

The principle of homogeneity requires every term added or equated in a physical equation to have the SAME dimensional formula.

Work out each term's dimension:

[v] = velocity = [L T^-1]

[u] = velocity = [L T^-1]

[a] = acceleration = [L T^-2]

[t] = time = [T]

So [at] = [L T^-2] x [T] = [L T^-1]

Comparing: [v] = [L T^-1], [u] = [L T^-1], [at] = [L T^-1] -- all three terms match exactly.
