6.1.1

Body Mass Index (BMI)

Body composition refers mainly to how muscle and fat are distributed in the body; body-size measures such as height, lengths and girths are also grouped under this component.

6.1.2

Plate Tapping Test

The Plate Tapping Test measures the speed and coordination of limb movement — how quickly the preferred hand can move back and forth between two targets.

6.1.3

Flamingo Balance Test

The Flamingo Balance Test checks the ability to balance on a single leg. This single-leg balance test assesses the strength of the leg, pelvic and trunk muscles, as well as static balance.

Age Group: 9–18+ Years | Class 4 to 12

From Class 4 onward, students are expected to have an overall level of physical fitness, and the SAI Khelo India Fitness Test records a fuller Physical Health and Fitness Profile for this age band.

Body Composition (BMI)

Abdominal (Partial Curl-Up)

The curl-up test measures abdominal muscular strength and the endurance of the abdominal muscles and hip flexors — muscles that are important for back support and core stability.

Push Ups (Boys) / Modified Push Ups (Girls)

This test measures upper-body strength endurance and trunk stability.

Sit and Reach

The Sit and Reach Test is a common measure of flexibility, and specifically of the flexibility of the lower back and hamstring muscles.

600 Mtr Run/Walk

The 600 metre Run/Walk measures cardiovascular fitness, or cardiovascular endurance.

50 Mtr Dash (Standing Start)

The 50 metre Dash determines acceleration and speed.

Rikli and Jones Senior Citizen Fitness Test

The Senior Citizen's Fitness Test (SFT) was developed by Rikli and Jones for older people aged between 60 and 94 years.

30 Second Chair Stand Test

- Purpose: to determine lower body strength. - Objective: to complete the maximum number of stands in 30 seconds. - Equipment: a straight-back chair without arms, and a stopwatch.

6.4.2

Arm Curl Test

- Purpose: to determine upper body strength. - Objective: to complete the maximum number of arm curls in 30 seconds.

6.4.3

Chair Sit and Reach Test

- Purpose: to determine lower body flexibility. - Objective: to stretch the lower body as far forward as possible. - Equipment: a straight-back chair without arms, and an 18-inch ruler.

Back Stretch

- Purpose: to determine upper body flexibility. - Objective: to touch or overlap the fingers of both hands behind the back. - Equipment: an 18-inch ruler.

Foot Up and Go

- Purpose: to determine physical mobility - power, speed, agility and balance. - Objective: to stand up and walk about 16 feet (out and back) and sit again as fast as possible, without running.
