Statement
Lenz's law: The direction of the induced current (or emf) in a circuit is always such that it opposes the change in magnetic flux that produces it.
Equivalently, if the flux through a circuit is increasing, the induced current flows in a direction that creates its own magnetic field opposing the increase (opposing the cause); if the flux is decreasing, the induced current flows so as to try to maintain (support) the flux.
