EXERCISE

This closing EVALUATION section tests every idea developed across the unit's eleven numbered sections, in four separate question formats. Section I is 15 multiple-choice questions (with a printed answer key) spanning field-at-a-point calculations, magnetic-moment problems, Earth's field and dip, hysteresis/demagnetisation, and dipole potential energy -- several drawn from, or adapted from, NEET and other competitive-exam papers. Section II is 20 short-answer questions covering definitions and short statements of every named law and rule in the unit. Section III is 16 long-answer questions asking for full derivations -- the Earth's field, the axial and equatorial dipole fields, the straight-wire and circular-coil fields, the solenoid and toroid fields via Ampere's law, the cyclotron, the tangent law, torque on a coil, force between parallel wires, and the galvanometer-to-ammeter/voltmeter conversions -- essentially every boxed formula derived in sections 3.1 through 3.11. Section IV is 6 numerical problems, several with their final numeric answers already printed in the textbook for self-checking, requiring the student to combine two …
