A black body at a given absolute temperature T emits electromagnetic radiation over a continuous range of wavelengths, with the intensity (spectral emissive power) varying with wavelength in a characteristic curve that rises from zero, reaches a single maximum at a particular wavelength lambda_m, and then falls again. Wien's displacement law states that this peak wavelength lambda_m is inversely proportional to the absolute temperature of the body:
lambda_m × T = b
where b is Wien's constant, approximately 2.9 × 10^-3 m·K.
