A polygamous plant bears both unisexual and bisexual flowers together on one individual.

Flowering plants show several sexual conditions based on the distribution of male and female reproductive organs among their flowers and individuals. A flower that has both stamens and a pistil is called bisexual (hermaphrodite/perfect), while one having only stamens or only a pistil is unisexual (male/staminate or female/pistillate respectively). Based on how these flower types are distributed on plants, species are described as monoecious (unisexual male and female flowers on the same plant, e.g. maize, cucumber), dioecious (male and female flowers on separate plants, e.g. papaya, date palm), or polygamous.
