Wien's displacement law states that the wavelength of peak emission of a black body, λm\lambda_m, is inversely proportional to its absolute temperature: λmT=b\lambda_m T = b.

A black body at a given absolute temperature TT emits electromagnetic radiation over a continuous range of wavelengths, with the intensity peaking at a particular wavelength λm\lambda_m.

Wien's displacement law states that this peak wavelength λm\lambda_m is inversely proportional to the absolute temperature TT of the body:

λmT=b\lambda_m T = b

where bb is Wien's constant, b=2.898×10−3 m Kb = 2.898 \times 10^{-3}\ \text{m K}.
