Telangana's education system runs from pre-primary to university through government, aided and private institutions. Its special feature is a large expansion of welfare residential schools and colleges (Gurukulams) for SC, ST, BC and minority children, together with model schools, KGBVs, polytechnics, degree colleges and universities, all aimed at raising literacy and human development after state formation in 2014.
