The middle term of (3a−5b)6(3a-5b)^6 is T4=6C3(3a)3(−5b)3=−67500 a3b3T_4 = {}^{6}C_3(3a)^3(-5b)^3 = -67500\,a^3b^3.

For (x+y)n(x+y)^n the general term is Tr+1=nCr xn−ryrT_{r+1} = {}^{n}C_r\, x^{n-r} y^r. When n=6n = 6 is even there is exactly one middle term, the (n2+1)=4\left(\tfrac{n}{2}+1\right) = 4th term, i.e. T4T_4 with r=3r = 3.

With x=3ax = 3a, y=−5by = -5b:
