Molality (m)

Molality is defined as the number of moles of solute present in 1 kg of solvent. It is denoted by m:

m=Number of moles of soluteMass of solvent in kgm = \frac{\text{Number of moles of solute}}{\text{Mass of solvent in kg}}

Molality does not change with temperature, because mass (unlike volume) is unaffected by temperature.
