(i) 5!5!

By the definition of factorial, multiply every whole number from 55 down to 11:

5!=5×4×3×2×15! = 5 \times 4 \times 3 \times 2 \times 1

Step by step: 5×4=205\times4=20, 20×3=6020\times3=60, 60×2=12060\times2=120, 120×1=120120\times1=120.

5!=1205! = 120

(ii) 0!+1!0! + 1!

0!0! is defined (an axiom, not derived) to equal 11. 1!=11! = 1 trivially (a single number "multiplied" by nothing else).

0!+1!=1+1=20! + 1! = 1 + 1 = 2

✓Final answer

(i) 5!=1205! = 120 (ii) 0!+1!=20! + 1! = 2
