Specific conductance is the conductance of exactly 1 cm of solution held between electrodes of 1 cm2^2 area — i.e. the reciprocal of specific resistance.

The electrical conductance GG of a solution held between two electrodes depends on the electrodes' geometry:

G=κ⋅AlG = \kappa \cdot \dfrac{A}{l}

where AA is the electrode area and ll is the distance between them.

Specific conductance (or conductivity, κ\kappa) is defined as the conductance of a solution of an electrolyte contained between two electrodes with unit area of cross-section (1 cm2^2) separated by unit distance (1 cm). Equivalently, it is the reciprocal of the specific resistance (resistivity) of the solution, κ=1/ρ\kappa = 1/\rho.
