Only arguments (b) and (d) are genuinely grounded in the idea of equality; (a) and (c) are not equality arguments at all.

  1. "Women are our mothers. We shall not disrespect our mothers by denying them the right to vote" is an argument from sentiment and social respect for a family role, not from equal political standing. It does not claim that women deserve the vote because they are equal citizens with an equal say in how they are governed — and, if anything, it still frames women through a family role rather than as independent equal citizens in their own right.
