Part (a)

Work in the organised sector (also called the formal sector) is employment in enterprises that are registered with the government and operate under formal rules and labour legislation. Such workplaces comply with laws like the Factories Act, the Minimum Wages Act and the Payment of Gratuity Act, and provide statutory benefits such as provident fund, gratuity, paid leave and medical/social security. Characteristically, work here means a written contract or formal appointment, job security, regular wages with increments, and fixed working hours, plus the right to form or join trade unions for collective bargaining. It stands in sharp contrast to the unorganised sector, where work is casual, unregulated and without such protections.
