Chandni's Capital Account is credited with her opening balance Rs 3,00,000, interest on capital Rs 15,000, share of general reserve Rs 30,000, share of goodwill Rs 60,000 and share of profit Rs 1,12,500, giving a total of Rs 5,17,500 due to her executors.

Concept

On a partner's death, her Capital Account is completed to the date of death and the balance is transferred to her Executor's Account. It is credited with the capital balance, interest on capital to the date of death, her share of accumulated reserves, her share of goodwill (borne by the continuing partners in their gaining ratio) and her share of the current year's profit up to the date of death.

Working Notes

1. Interest on Capital (1 April 2024 to 1 October 2024 = 6 months)

3,00,000 x 10% x 6/12 = Rs 15,000

2. Share of General Reserve

60,000 x 5/10 = Rs 30,000

3. Share of Goodwill

1,20,000 x 5/10 = Rs 60,000, borne by Bhanu and Garima in their gaining ratio 3:2 (Bhanu Rs 36,000, Garima Rs 24,000).

4. Share of Profit to date of death (on previous year's profit Rs 4,50,000, for 6 months)

4,50,000 x 6/12 x 5/10 = 2,25,000 x 5/10 = Rs 1,12,500
