Both the MRA and the English poet confused the simple Gemini staff - the MRA's real purpose was unclear, and the poet's accent and his very presence at a Tamil studio made his visit 'an unexplained mystery'.

The first source of confusion was Frank Buchman's Moral Re-Armament army, some two hundred strong, which visited Madras sometime in 1952. Gemini Studios hosted them warmly and the Gemini family of six hundred watched their plays, 'Jotham Valley' and 'The Forgotten Factor', over and over again, deeply impressed by the sets and costumes. Yet the film-world staff could not really place this play-staging moral crusade; only years later did the narrator learn that the MRA was a counter-movement to international Communism which big bosses like Vasan 'played into', and even then he honestly admits, 'I am not sure however, that this was indeed the case.' …
