In Bryophytes, the gametophyte (haploid) is the dominant, independent, photosynthetic phase — the thalloid or leafy plant body we normally see. The sporophyte (diploid) that grows from it is comparatively short-lived and multicellular, and depends wholly or partly on the gametophyte for nutrition and anchorage (in mosses, for example, the sporophyte's foot remains embedded in the gametophyte throughout its life). So the two generations are not independent of each other, ruling out option (a); it is the sporophyte, not the gametophyte, that depends on the other generation, ruling out (c); and the gametophyte in Bryophytes is the conspicuous, well-developed phase, not an inconspicuous one, ruling out (d).
